    Board of Directors Application

  • This Committee educates members and the community on critical issues affecting women and people of color, focuses its collective power in public policy and legislative forums, and is responsible for the mission to eliminate racism. The Committee, in consultation with the Board of Directors and Executive Director, determines goals for increasing awareness and understanding of the YWCA's mission, relevance in our community, and strategies for improving visibility of the association. The Committee works to maintain a leadership position in advancing the issues and to develop opportunities for awareness and education around structural racism and the subsequent disparate impact on women and people of color. The Committee also works to fill the need for greater understanding of diversity, inclusion and equity in the region.

The YWCA Great Lakes Bay Region is on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women, stand up for social justice, help families, and strengthen communities. We want to be at the forefront of the biggest issues of the day: from voting rights to civil rights, from affordable housing to pay equity and from violence prevention to health care reform. This Committee educates members and the community on these critical issues affecting women and people of color.
